Registered Land Department

Junior Clerk

Grade 9 Step 1

Duties to include but not limited to:

  • Assist the public, lawyers and title examiners in person and over the phone
  • Record documents
  • Process documents through the computer system, which includes indexing and verifying
  • Processing the recorded work on Certificates of Title
  • Knowledge of plans for scaling in new boundary lines and drafting descriptions
  • Research Land Court title problems
  • Handle correspondence with Land Court in Boston
  • Attend Land Court seminars
  • Copy, fax, and email documents
  • Certify and attest copies
  • Bookkeeping
  • Process mail
  • Filing Scanning and processing documents when necessary
  • Assist in Final Certificate Verification, to put in book form
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the supervisor

Employees who work in Registered Land Department have added responsibilities of administrating the rules and regulations of the Land Court. It is also important to have knowledge of Chapter 185 of the general laws.
