Special Notice: Regarding Registered Land Recording
Effective March 1, 2023
Beginning March 1, 2023, the New Bedford Registry will be providing an opportunity for all Registered Land documents submitted to this office for registration to be reviewed prior to any closings or recordings. This option helps to ensure all documents meet the requirements of the Massachusetts Land Court Standards. Fully executed documents may be submitted to this department by e-mailing LPerry@newbedforddeeds.com. Our staff will examine all presented documents and email a determination that the documents may be approved as submitted or our office will specify any changes or requirements for them to be accepted. Please be aware that this is not a requirement, but an opportunity to aid and facilitate the recording process. All documents are subject to final review at the time of recording.
A return envelope with postage will be required so that we can return the documents to you via the USPS.
Thank you – Register Sherrilynn M. Mello
Also, please be aware that the Registry of Deeds has the right to refuse a document if it does not meet the standards or statutory requirements. Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 6 Section 12a
